Before you move

______Contact Advantage Properties to schedule an appointment to find your new home."

Once we find your new home

______Give notice at current residence or contact Realtor to list home.

______Prepare to pack and move (collect boxes, newspaper, bubble paper, tape, markers, etc.)

______Notify friends, relatives, creditors, magazines, etc. of your new address.

______Transfer or change bank accounts. If changing banks, close all accounts/safety deposit boxes and notify any direct deposit or withdraw companies of the change.

______Arrange to discontinue local services. (Get letter of credit from existing utility company so as to avoid utility deposits.)

______Have utilities turn on for your new home upon your move-in date. (Some properties will arrange this for you.)

______Arrange for movers or "Do it yourself" truck/trailer.

______Obtain renter's insurance coverage.

______Schedule appointment with the property management to sign lease and pick up keys to your new home and mailbox.

______Give forwarding address to previous landlord for deposit refunds.

______Fill out and submit change of address for U.S. Postmaster.

______Allot time for cleaning of previous residence or make appointment with cleaning service.

Once you have moved to your new home

______Meet with property manager to pay rent, sign lease, get keys (door and mailbox).

______Fill out move-in inventory, if required by management company.

______Obtain a Texas drivers license or change the address on your current Texas drivers license.

______Obtain Texas registration and inspection, if applicable.

______Order new checks or open new bank accounts.

______Enroll children in schools.

______Get voter's registration.
